confused smiley Problem with german keyboard
January 09, 2016 12:05AM
I just updated to the latest nightly build.

Now I have problems with the german keyboard. 'z' and 'y' key for example were correct,
but now they're still US style, so for me 'z' is 'y' and 'y' is 'z'.

Is there a keyboard settings I missed or is this a bug in the build?
Cheers

What operating system are you using? Is this only an issue with menus or do you have the issue with the dialog text too?

SDL 2 support was recently added, but there was a report of someone having this issue in the past. OS X snapshots use SDL 2, but I believe Windows snapshots are still using SDL 1.2 (changes were made to that could affect SDL 1.2 code as well).

I'm on Windows7 here and the problem seems to be a keyboard only problem.
I cannot find an issue in the menues so far, but for example if I cast a spell then I have
to press z instead of y.

SDL is 1.2.15 in this version as well as in the older version (16. Juli 2014) which didn't have this problem.

I was mostly wondering if the text you typed when talking to people worked which it hopefully still does. Unfortunately, I don't see where our SDL 1.2 changed to that would mess this up. We still use key codes which should be layout independent. I'll try and see if Eric has an idea.

Can you please try this SDL 2 snapshot and see if it works?

That's great. I didn't think it would work but wanted to know for sure.

Always being the suspicious one, I checked it again and it's positively as I said. It does work with a version about a year old - it does not work with the latest version, but I defintely works again with your latest SDL2 version smileys with beer

Are there any known problems with this version? Or can I just use it without any problems?

Really odd. The OS X version works fine, the Windows snapshot works fine via Wine but in my VM with Windows 7 the keyboard behaves wrong... Very very strange...

The documentation and the FAQ are your friends. So RTFM!

I think that SDL 2 version should be fine. I missed your post above Dominus until now.

I'm afraid that I'm back with the same keyboard problem with the latest snapshots.
z/x keys are switched like when I started this thread?

Wasn't that permanently fixed?

Unfortunately, I don't think anything was fixed. Here is an SDL2 Nuvie version download.

Sorry for the late answer but I was out of town for a couple of days.
Could you please reupload the SDL2 Version?

Jeez am I again too late? It seems there's only a very short download expiration time.
